FIU Geodesy Lab

The Geodesy Lab is part of the Department of Earth and Enironment at the Florida International University. The Geodesy Lab state-of-the-art research techniques include: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), Global Positioning System (GPS), Spcae-borne, airborne, and ground-based Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). These techniques are applied to quantify and evaluate changes in the Earth's land and water surfaces.

About Us:

We apply space geodetic tecniques to a variety of Earth and Environmental science topics, indluding crustal deformation, earthquakes, sinkhole detection, hydrology, land subsidence, coastal flooding hazard, sea level rise, and vegetation monitoring. Our work has been sponsered by the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), State of Florida, United States Geological Survey (USGS), and South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD).
